Airport Information

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)

Welcome to the airport with the most traffic surrounding it! LAX is situated in the heart of Los Angeles and serves the Greater Los Angeles area. It is the second most populated metropolitan area in the United States and is the sixth busiest airport in the world.

To check in for an international flight alone, it can take up to two or three hours, so make sure you show up three to four hours before your scheduled flight!

LAX has nine terminals that connected by a U-shaped two-level roadway. The largest terminal it has is the Tom Bradley International Terminal and a new terminal was opened in September 2013. If you are using LAX to connect to another terminal, make sure you have a map handy because the airport can be very big.

Passenger Services

Though the security checks are tedious, LAX provides many services to travelers. There are numerous restaurants and cafes located throughout the airport.

LAX does provide art exhibits, ATMs/ Cash Machines, free WiFi (click “Get Free Access”), a curbside Skycap (hassle-free option for check-in and baggage drop-off), Car Rentals, Currency Exchange, food and drinks, and an observation deck.

LAX does not provide information desks (but has self help kiosks), luggage storage and lockers, showers, and smoking areas inside.

LAX terminals are immediately west of the interchange between Century Boulevard and Sepulveda Boulevard. The closest bus stops to the terminal are served by Torrance 8, Metro 117, Metro 232, Commuter Express 574 and Metro 40. There are also metro rails that offer a free connection to and from the Aviator/LAX station on the Los Angeles Metro Rail Green Line.

Taxicab services are operated by nine city-authorized taxi companies.

If your flight is delayed or canceled, LAX provides the following hotels nearby: Hacienda Hotel and Conference Center Los Angeles, Four Points Sheraton Los Angeles International Airport, and Hilton Los Angeles Airport.
